Some people are also ill-equiped to tell someone that they don't want to pursue the relationship any longer. We definitely encourage people to be sensitive to others in all things, but it is better to be up front and honest and not lead people on. If you continue to write emails to someone even though you know in your heart that this will never go anywhere offline, you are only leading the person on and will likely cause greater pain the longer you prolong this....
