Last year, I ran a race in honor of Ellen, raising nearly $2,000 in the process. The money will go to the Ellen J. Alter Fund, an organization created by her daughter, Jessica, which is dedicated to improving the lives of Jewish girls and women worldwide. The race was 6.4 miles - farther than I had ever run before. My password for the race: "4Ellen."
